Commander Deanie Earthman & K9 Umi Ginny Chase & K9 Umi
Intermountain Health- St. Mary’s (Colorado)
Deanie has been involved with K9 for over 40 years. She worked for Grand Junction Police Department 1983 to 2017, over 25 years of her career she was a K9 handler. She worked seven K9’s during her career.
After retiring Deanie has stayed involved in K9. She trains K9 teams in western Colorado, northwest Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming. February 2021 Deanie was contacted by SCL Health, St. Mary’s Hospital about helping them start a K9 program
Later in 2021 Deanie began working in the Emergency Department with K9 Umi. Umi is an 11 year old German shepherd with French bloodlines. Umi now is helping train the new dogs and handlers. Umi is trained and certified in tracking, narcotics, HRD, patrol, and handler protection through High Desert Police K9 Association, and the National Police Canine Association.
Umi is living her best life between getting to run at her own private playground with her best dog friend Kobi, going to the mountains, and helping out at training.

Odin is an 8 year old Belgian Malinois. Odin has been with Officer Nate Baker since he was 6 weeks old, and works at Craig Police Department. Odin is trained in narcotics detection and patrol.

K9 Te Kā is a female German Shepherd and was born June of 2020. She is the niece of K9 Talu who worked for Fruita Police Department. She is certified in handler protection, muzzle, tracking and human remains detection.

K9 Kobi is a two year old bi-colored German Shepherd born and imported from Hungary. Kobi began his career in February 2025 as a security K9 for Intermountain Health- St. Mary's.
